About the Role We are seeking an experienced strategic transport planning leader to drive the delivery of Council’s Integrated Transport Strategy and shape the future of mobility in Port Phillip. Reporting to the Head of Transport, you will lead a multidisciplinary Strategic Transport team to deliver innovative, evidence-based solutions that support Council’s goals for a connected, sustainable and liveable city. This role demands both technical expertise and collaborative leadership. You will bring deep knowledge of integrated transport planning, parking and urban design, alongside the ability to influence policy, manage complex and high-profile projects, and build strong relationships across Council, government agencies and the community. Duties: Lead delivery of the Integrated Transport Strategy and related policies Manage team performance, budgets and work programs Provide expert advice on transport planning, parking and urban design Drive community engagement and behaviour change initiatives Oversee data collection and analysis to inform transport decisions Collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders Influence internal processes and contribute to continuous improvement Represent Council in strategic forums and advocate for transport priorities Skills and Experience Tertiary qualification in transport planning, engineering or urban planning Extensive experience in strategic transport planning, ideally in local government Proven leadership and team management capability Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills Project management expertise with budget oversight Culture People enjoy working at the City of Port Phillip because we are a welcoming, healthy and inclusive workplace.
