The key duties of the position include The Role In the Strategy and Plans Branch, within the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Group, there are vacancies in both the Strategy and International Engagement team and the Industry Partnerships team. You will be given the unique opportunity to work within diverse teams to deliver Australian Defence Force systems as the leading edge of Defence Capability as well as establishing the first Australian complex guided weapons industrial base. The Strategy and International Engagement team works closely with foreign Governments to ensure the establishment of an Australian complex guided weapons industrial base, a top priority outlined by the Defence Strategic Review and detailed in the 2024 GWEO Plan. You will be: Working in the development, advocacy, prioritisation, implementation and review of Defence and strategic policies (domestic and international); Managing administrative arrangements of divisional representation at senior committees and international meetings; Progressing tasks for delivery of programs, projects and activities on policy priorities, and/or international engagement activities; Reviewing issues on Defence and strategic policies, drafting briefing materials, policy and planning documents, reports, ministerial correspondence and other relevant documents; Working collaboratively with stakeholders on policy development and implementation; and Engaging with stakeholders to identify and address issues, provide informed advice to support objectives, and contribute to team activities aligning with work plans, and guiding team members on task completion methods. The Industry Partnership team is responsible for developing strong relationships with industry and working with the key enabling groups including the Office of Defence Industry Support to support the development of a domestic manufacturing base. The work of the directorate also includes industry analysis and reporting, industry engagements and forums, and working closely with the GWEO project offices to drive Australian industry capability outcomes. You will be: Helping to drive a strategic approach to industry development across the GWEO Group; Organising industry networking and engagement sessions; Working closely with the Office of Defence Industry Support and other areas across Defence to uplift industry and create pathways for future supply opportunities; and Analysing and reporting industry data and contributing to briefs that promote Australian industry capability outcomes. Note: This position will be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
