The Role The Senior Policy Officer is responsible for policy projects and policy advice to support ACECQA's role in guiding the implementation and administration of the National Quality Framework (NQF) for children's education and care. The Senior Policy Officer identifies and investigates policy problems using their skills in legislative interpretation, critical thinking and regulatory policy. This role makes a major contribution to the development and refinement of national solutions to NQF implementation issues, as well as ACECQA's contributions to / leadership of current and emerging strategic initiatives. This role is full time and fixed term (7-month parental leave replacement cover) at ACECQA Band 5/6 ($103,179 to $ 145,235). The key duties of the position include Key Accountabilities Identify, research, analyse, consult and devise options to resolve policy, legislative, operational and business system issues that support ACECQA's strategic objectives and projects. Review, interpret and provide advice on policy, procedural, business systems, and legislative matters for internal and external stakeholders Manage policy projects, including undertaking research and consultation, tracking and monitoring project plans, and maintain risk, issue and action logs. Draft briefs, reports, submissions and policy papers Work cooperatively across the project/policy teams to contribute to the project objectives Build and maintain effective working relationships with regulatory authorities and the Australian Government and other external stakeholders to achieve organisational goals Develop and influence effective and efficient legislation, policy and procedure for the operation of the NQF Provide timely and accurate completion of tasks and projects, including ad hoc policy and project tasks as they relate to the work of the Policy group. Maintain consistent, transparent and accurate records in line with ACECQA's Records policies and procedures.
