Job Description Position Title: APS6 Clinician Employment Type: Labour Hire - approx. 12-month contract with potential to extend Location: Brisbane or Melbourne Hourly Pay Rate: $65.03 – $73.85 per hour 12% superannuation Security Clearance/Requirements: Australian Citizenship and working with Vulnerable People/Children check required Working Arrangements: Rostered between 7am and 7pm (Monday to Friday) ABOUT THE ROLE This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced mental health professional to join a national team providing support to veterans and their families. As an APS6 Clinician, you will deliver telephone-based clinical services including intake, triage, risk assessment, and short-term support. You’ll play a key role as the first point of contact for clients, offering trauma-informed and evidence-based interventions, and connecting them with appropriate ongoing care. This role is ideal for clinicians who thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and who want to make a meaningful impact supporting the veteran community. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct intake, assessment and triage for clients contacting the service. Provide immediate clinical mental health support and brief interventions over the phone. Undertake risk assessments, including managing clients presenting with acute distress. Refer clients to regional and state-based Open Arms offices or other appropriate support services. Maintain accurate client records, case notes, and documentation in line with policy and clinical governance requirements. Participate in clinical supervision, professional development and team meetings. Collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated client care. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Experience delivering clinical mental health services, including intake, assessment, and short-term intervention. Strong understanding of trauma-informed and client-centred care. Demonstrated ability to manage complex client presentations and respond to crisis situations effectively. Excellent communication, documentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to navigate IT systems confidently in a high-volume environment. Understanding of or experience working within a call centre or telephone-based clinical service is highly desirable. ELIGIBILITY A relevant qualification and professional registration: Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration, OR Social Worker with AASW membership, OR Masters-level Counsellor with PACFA Clinical or ACA Level 3/4 registration. Current or ability to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People or Working with Children check. Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain a Baseline AGSVA security clearance.
