About the Role: Cyber Security NSW is seeking a skilled Cyber Security Data Analyst to join its Cyber Security Strategic Advisory Team . This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to strengthening cyber resilience across the NSW government, by supporting the delivery of key strategic initiatives. We're seeking candidates with a background in cyber security and demonstrated experience in collecting and analysing complex data from diverse sources. Your insights will help identify trends, uncover opportunities for improvement and support evidence-based decision making. You will contribute to enhancing cyber security resilience across NSW Government by providing high-quality advice and analysis in support of the Governance and Risk Improvement Program, as well as other operational and project-based initiatives. Key Accountabilities: Conduct research and analysis, and produce reports, visualisations, dashboards and recommendations to answer complex business problems that are presented in the most appropriate format to ensure clarity for target audience (technical and non-technical). Identify, interpret and analyse complex data sets relating to cyber security policy, risk and governance to answer multifaceted business problems including the identification of trends and/or patterns in complex data sets, to create inference or insights. Provide specialist information and advice on data quality and validation issues of reported data to support cyber security reporting and assurance activities, ensuring effective processes are put in place to rectify issues and continuously improve data integrity and compliance. Develop and implement templates, databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies, policies, processes and solutions to optimise data quality using best practice methodologies and industry recognised standards and processes. Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources, conduct filtering and “cleaning” of data to ensure the quality and accuracy of source data. Support projects to identify, analyse and define continuous improvement opportunities to cyber security governance, reporting and assurance. Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders through effective communications and managing expectations to ensure delivery of services and the achievement of outcomes and benefits. Develop, measure, monitor and report on performance indicators, metrics and compliance to inform business planning and support decision making. About Cyber Security NSW Branch: The Cyber Security NSW is a all-of-government function located within Digital NSW in the Department of Customer Service. We are responsible for ensuring a cyber safe NSW. The protection of our systems and digital information is vital because of the many essential services NSW Government provides including health, emergency services, and transport. Furthermore, the exciting digital transformation being undertaken across NSW Government requires similarly enhanced cyber security capabilities. At the centre of this exciting and growing cyber capability, Cyber Security NSW is working across NSW Government to: · Create an all-of-government integrated approach to managing cyber risk and responding to cyber security threats · Increase cyber skills and awareness · Understand the risks from cyber threats to our digital information and systems · Set cyber security standards · Ensure we are prepared if a damaging cyber incident occurs About You: To be successful in the role you will have: Strong technical expertise and demonstrated ability to apply advanced data validation, integration and analytics techniques. Proven data handling experience and are skilled in extracting and analysing complex datasets to generate actionable insights that solve business problems. Experience in managing multiple initiatives in a dynamic environment with diverse stakeholders to support informed decision making through effective communication. Have currency of knowledge and familiarity with information security and/or cyber security principles and concepts, and experience analysing or assuring governance and reporting data and a strong understanding of cyber security concepts highly desired. Be an Australian Citizen and have or be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance, and willingness to undergo a Police check as a condition of employment. Experience working with data analytic tools such as PowerBI and Tableau will be highly regarded. Tertiary qualifications in Statistics, Mathematics, Social Science, Actuary, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics or equivalent experience highly desired .
