Established in 2016 as a not-for-profit, Mary’s House operates a women’s refuge, community-based casework program, and therapeutic and wellbeing initiatives. The team is grounded in feminist, trauma-informed practice and driven by values of respect, compassion, generosity, hope and safety. Together, they create pathways to safety, healing and empowerment for women and children rebuilding their lives after abuse. The Impact of the Role As the Domestic and Family Violence Caseworker - Intake and Referral, you will be the first point of contact for women and children seeking safety and support. You will manage all incoming referrals and assessments, ensuring each client is connected to the most suitable service - whether refuge, casework, or community programs. You’ll conduct risk assessments, safety planning and crisis intervention, offering short-term support and referrals to appropriate services. Your role will be central in ensuring clients’ first experience with Mary’s House Services is compassionate, safe and effective. You’ll report to the Refuge and Casework Manager and collaborate closely with the Community Programs Manager and Community Programs Coordinator on program intakes. Key Responsibilities Include Managing intake and assessments for refuge, casework and community programs Assessing the eligibility and suitability of referrals and prioritising allocations in consultation with the Refuge and Casework Manager Conducting triage, risk assessment, safety planning and crisis intervention, including DVSAT administration Providing crisis counselling and short-term advice and referral interventions Maintaining accurate, confidential client records and data in the client database Facilitating regular intake and referral meetings across teams Building and maintaining strong referral networks with local and external services Adhering to organisational policies, including WHS and Code of Conduct About You You are a qualified and compassionate social worker who thrives on supporting women and children impacted by domestic and family violence. You bring professionalism, empathy and strong coordination skills to ensure every client receives safe and timely support. You’ll bring: A Bachelor of Social Work (eligible for AASW membership) Two or more years’ experience as a social worker within the DFV sector Demonstrated ability to conduct client intake and assessments and develop safety plans Experience in crisis intervention, risk and safety assessment, and referral coordination Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong administration, organisational and record-keeping skills Collaborative, relationship-building approach and commitment to trauma-informed, feminist practice You will also hold: Working With Children Check National Police Check This position is open to women only, under s.31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
