The opportunity The Transition to Work service is the Australian Government’s dedicated youth employment service, supporting young people aged 15-24 to achieve their work and study goals. Workskills is the sole provider of TtW in Southern Tasmania, supporting more than 900 young people annually. As the program continues to grow, we’ve created new positions to meet the increasing demand from young people. We now have a full-time opportunity for a Youth Coach to join Workskills from one of our sites in Southern Tasmania. As a Youth Employment Coach, you’ll use a strengths-based, client-centred approach to help young people achieve their goals. You’ll be supported to: Provide tailored, one-on-one coaching and group sessions to support young people to build confidence and resilience, gain skills for work and education, and achieve their goals one step at a time. Collaborate with internal teams and external services to offer targeted support to young people, from mental health support and driving lessons, to formal training and work placements. Manage a caseload of participants, supporting their progression and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records at all times. Contribute to individual and team performance targets aligned with our mission to create lasting change. About you Successful Youth Employment Coaches have a common skill set; outstanding customer service, the ability to prioritise; and a passion for enabling young people to achieve their full potential. In our current workforce we have amazing people that have come from the retail, hospitality and the general service sectors. Equally we have qualified professionals with high levels of tertiary education. Overall, the key is your ability to excel in customer service. To be successful in this role you will have: Essential: Ability to deliver, (through a comprehensive on boarding and training program), strengths-based, co-designed, client-centred approaches to youth development. The ability to understand the needs of young people; facilitate young people’s preparation for work and/or education; and support young people to achieve work and education outcomes The ability to develop skills in case management, tailoring services for individual clients; managing diverse caseloads with empathy and professionalism; apply service guidelines and models; and use digital case management systems Strong interpersonal communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to engage effectively with young people, and collaborate professionally with colleagues and external service providers.
