APS6 Communications Officer Security Cleared Canberra Located Long-term Contract Our Government client is seeking talented and driven communications professionals with strong writing, design, and stakeholder engagement skills to join the team in delivering high-impact communication initiatives across a range of policy, program, and campaign areas. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement communication strategies and plans to support policy, program, and campaign priorities. Create high-quality communication materials for a range of audiences, including social media, web content, speeches, talking points, videos, and accessible materials. Coordinate events, launches, and ministerial visits, including logistics, branding, and stakeholder engagement. Manage branded materials and merchandise, including design, procurement, production, distribution, and inventory tracking. Liaise with internal teams, senior officials and external partners to ensure consistent messaging. Monitor and report on the performance of communications initiatives. Provide advice on strategic messaging, branding, and communications risks. Support research, creative development, and preparation of briefings, submissions, and administrative documentation. Key Capabilities Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting for institutional or government communications channels. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver under limited supervision. Experience in strategic communications, public diplomacy, policy communications, or high-pressure government communications environments. Proficiency in graphic design and familiarity with digital communications platforms. Experience in event coordination, branded merchandise production, procurement, and contract management. Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences. Understanding of policy, multilateral issues, and government priorities is desirable. Team player with the ability to contribute to an inclusive and collaborative workplace culture.
