About the Role ALS Water operates a modern laboratory in Hume, Canberra equipped with the latest in analytical technology. We strive to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time and by maintaining strong relationships with our clients. This role is fast paced and require you to work at speed with accuracy. There are two positions available: 1 Fixed Term Maternity Leave Cover 1 Permanent role due to internal promotion Job description Carry out allocated laboratory work strictly in line with documented methodologies and procedures. Perform daily quality control checks and instrument calibrations to ensure data integrity. Complete all analytical work within set timeframes, ensuring results are delivered in accordance with methods and customer expectations. Immediately report any issues or uncertainties affecting test performance to the supervisor. Monitor stock levels and inform the supervisor when items need replenishing. Maintain a clean, safe and organised laboratory environment, ensuring waste is correctly disposed of. Accurately complete all documentation with clear and concise handwriting. Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures, including manual handling requirements. Wear and correctly use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Report all incidents or near misses to your line manager without delay. The essentials Degree or Technical Diploma in Chemistry or related science discipline Ability to follow instructions and established procedures with precision. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records. Basic IT literacy and good written and verbal communication skills. Able to work effectively within a team.
