About the Role My client is seeking a driven and experienced Accounting Manager to join their thriving firm in Manly as the second-in-charge, working closely with the Partner to lead and grow the practice. The successful applicant will oversee a team of six offshore, manage workflow across compliance and advisory engagement streams, and elevate the domestic advisory service offerings. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Accountant or Supervisor who is ready to step into a leadership role and progress toward a Partner track. Key Responsibilities Work alongside the Partner in managing the firm’s accounting operations and team. Supervise and mentor a six-person offshore compliance team, ensuring high-quality, on-time deliverables. Manage workflow: assign tasks, monitor progress, ensure deadlines are met and resources are aligned. Lead domestic advisory services, leveraging experience to deliver value-added insights to clients beyond standard compliance. Act as a client-facing professional for advisory engagements—interpret financial results, provide business advice, tax planning input, and strategic recommendations. Ensure that compliance work delivered offshore meets the firm’s standards, coordinating hand-off between offshore and domestic teams. Contribute to business development and growth—identify opportunities for the firm, help prepare proposals, build client relationships. Actively participate in improving processes and systems to keep the practice efficient, scalable, and quality-driven. Prepare and present reports to the Partner on team performance, engagement status, and business metrics. What My Client Is Looking For A minimum of 7 years in an accounting role (senior accountant, supervisor or similar) within a professional services firm. Strong advisory experience—proven ability to work beyond compliance, delivering strategic business insights, tax planning, finance-related advice. Experience supervising or managing a team (preferably with a geographically distributed/offshore team). Excellent organisational skills, workflow management experience, ability to oversee multiple projects and deadlines. Strong leadership, communication and people-management skills—you will motivate and guide a team, and work closely with senior leadership. High level of technical accounting, taxation and advisory knowledge relevant to Australian business clients. Comfortable working in a hybrid model (office in Manly up to 2 days work from home) and coordinating across time zones with offshore teams. A proactive, growth-oriented mindset, with ambition to move up the ladder and take on increasing responsibility.
