Role Overview As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will be a fundamental key player within our team. You will maintain complete sets of financial records, keep track of accounts, and verify the accuracy of procedures used for recording financial transactions through the nominated business accounting software to the start of the Tax Return and Annual Financial Statements job stage for our clients. You will be reporting to our head of accounting, and your duties will be to perform a range of general accounting duties for our clients. Key Responsibilities: Accounts payable and accounts receivable management Keep up to date with weekly / fortnightly / monthly payroll processing BAS Reconciliations Weekly Xero Reconciliations Process quarterly employer SG payments Weekly bank, credit card and loan reconciliations of all assigned clients Preparation and lodgments of IAS and BAS Preparation of financial reports End-of-year account activities, including STP (Single Touch Payroll) finalisation Preparation of Taxable Payment Annual reports (TPAR) Assist in driving continuous improvement within the organisation Assisting in general office administration duties as required Software Knowledge (Preferred but not necessary) Xero Certified Karbon Exposure to Xero add-ons/integrations like Hubdoc, Dext, Deputy, etc Experience with MYOB, QuickBooks Online, or Reckon (as applicable) Familiarity with payroll platforms such as KeyPay, Employment Hero, or Xero Payroll Experience using the ATO Business and Tax Agent Portals What We're Looking For At least 5 years of experience in Australian public practice Expert knowledge of Australian bookkeeping and accounting standards High attention to detail and strong organisational skills Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills Clear communication, able to collaborate in a team, and communicate with clients Able to work autonomously, manage time, and prioritise tasks effectively Self-motivated and a team player High level of integrity and professionalism.
