The Team The Housing and Human Services team is responsible for researching, developing and advising on policy formulation and advice for social housing, market housing and human services in Victoria. Within this wider team sits the Social Housing Policy team which is responsible for helping to improve the lives and outcomes of Victorians through analysis, research and advice on social housing and homelessness policy. About the role This is a permanent role within the team. You will be responsible for providing economic and policy analysis and advice related to social housing and homelessness policy and engaging with internal and external stakeholders. Key accountabilities Work independently and collaboratively in the team on complex economic, social, financial and/or public policy issues. Provide analysis on economic, social, financial and or/ public policy issues, to support advice to Government. Support the development of policy proposals and prepare timely, accurate and authoritative briefings on a wide range of economic, financial and policy issues for senior management and government. Contribute to qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to inform policy advice. Collaborate on whole of government projects. Communicate and consult in an effective and influential manner with internal and external stakeholders. Participate in planning and decision-making to support the team and contribute to fostering a positive team culture. Support core government business, which may include responding to correspondence, developing papers for Cabinet Committees and Inter-departmental committees, agendas and record-keeping. Key Selection Criteria Economic policy analysis: understanding of contemporary economic and social trends and policy directions as well as key economic developments in both local, national and international economies. Shows experience in providing the evidence base to inform policy decisions. Communication and Influence: Experience preparing high quality briefings and advice both verbally and in writing; including the ability to convey issues persuasively and effectively in plain language. Conceptual and problem-solving skills: Demonstrated capacity to solve problems through the application of frameworks and the synthesis of independent research. Analytical skills: Ability to analyse and synthesise datasets, including spreadsheet modelling to identify issues using analytical, research and qualitative skills. * Stakeholder engagement: ability to build and maintain strong networks and relationships with stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to leverage stakeholder relationships to influence outcomes. Experience and qualifications Tertiary qualifications in economics, public policy, econometrics, commerce, statistics, law or a related field are an advantage, but not essential.
