What We’re Looking For Reporting to the Senior Manager, Electrical Engineering, this role will conduct the specification, design, development, testing and fault finding of digital and analogue electronics for both external and implantable medical devices. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in electrical engineering, and a strong interest in building things and understanding how things work, enabling them to occasionally cross domain boundaries into the mechanical, firmware or software space. A background in medical device development is a huge plus but not essential. This is a 12-month Fixed Term contract position. Your role will include: Conduct design verification and process validation activities, including writing protocols and reports Work with external test partners to ensure designs meet specification, industry standards and regulatory requirements As part of a team, design and develop hardware and firmware for active implantable medical products and test equipment Produce and develop documentation in line with Saluda’s QMS, including planning & implementing changes following the change control procedure, and engaging collaborators and reviewers to address and resolve feedback. Provide regular updates to Project Managers on progress and risks Lead initiatives to implement changes in requirements, testing or ‘best practice’ to help improve processes and methodologies About you: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Strong debugging and problem-solving skills Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronic or Computer Engineering Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the specification, design and development of electronic hardware and/or firmware PCB Design with Altium or similar software Working knowledge of analogue electronics, including SPICE simulation Strong programming fundamentals, at embedded level (e.g. C) as well as higher levels of abstraction (e.g. Python, C#) Ability to read and interpret schematics and datasheets Experience with and commitment to product development in a QA controlled environment Self-motivated with excellent time management skills Positive attitude, ability to form strong relationships with key stakeholders Understands and accepts the complexities of working in a highly regulated environment It’s not essential, but nice if you have: Knowledge of medical device regulatory requirements and standards (ISO 13485, 62304, 14708-3, 60601-1, etc.) Experience in the development of medical device test systems (for verification and/or production) Experience with Bluetooth (or other RF) system design and associated compliance testing Proficiency using electrical modelling and simulation software such as LTspice. Knowledge of control systems, digital signal processing, and neurophysiology Experience with Test Method Validation and FMEA Experience in management of a contract manufacturer and development of electrical specifications for contract manufacturing At Saluda, we challenge boundaries.
