What We’re Looking For Reporting to the Senior Manager, Electrical Engineer, the primary purpose of this position is to conduct the specification, design, development, testing and fault finding of digital and analogue electronics for both external and implantable medical devices. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in electrical engineering, and a strong interest in building things and understanding how things work, enabling them to occasionally cross domain boundaries into the mechanical, firmware or software space. This role would be suitable to a graduate or early-career engineer looking to build a career in the growing Australian medical device industry. This is a 12-month Fixed Term contract position. Your role will include: Conducting design verification activities, including writing protocols and reports Working as part of a team to design and develop hardware and firmware for active implantable medical products and test equipment Producing and developing documentation in line with Saluda’s QMS, including planning & implementing changes following the change control procedure, and engaging collaborators and reviewers to address and resolve feedback. Providing regular updates to Project Managers on progress and risks Leading initiatives to implement changes in requirements, testing or ‘best practice’ to help improve processes and methodologies About you: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Strong debugging and problem-solving skills Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronic or Computer Engineering Ability to read and interpret schematics and datasheets Working knowledge of analogue electronics, including SPICE simulation Some programming experience, at embedded level (e.g. C) as well as higher levels of abstraction (e.g. Python, C#) Commitment to hardware and firmware development in a QA controlled environment Self-motivated with excellent time management skills Positive attitude, ability to form strong relationships with key stakeholders Understands and accepts the complexities of working in a highly regulated environment It’s not essential, but nice if you have: Experience in medical device design and development Knowledge of medical device regulatory requirements (ISO 13485, 62304, 14708-3, 60601-1) Experience in the development of medical device test systems (for verification and/or production) Experience in medical device, electronics, semi-conductor, automotive or aeronautical industry PCB Design with Altium or similar software Knowledge of control systems, digital signal processing, and neurophysiology At Saluda, we challenge boundaries.
