We're looking for a Fire Protection Engineer to bring specialist fire safety expertise to a variety of energy and infrastructure projects across Australia. In this role, you'll develop fire safety strategies, design protection systems, and ensure compliance with Australian Standards and the National Construction Code (NCC), all while collaborating with a team committed to practical, high-quality outcomes. Key Responsibilities Fire Safety Engineering & Compliance Conduct fire safety studies for new and existing facilities. Develop design criteria for fire protection systems aligned with NCC and AS standards. Perform hydraulic analysis and fire water demand calculations. Prepare bushfire hazard reports and management plans. Provide preliminary advice on dangerous goods assessments. Design & Documentation Produce site plans for fire services including hydrants, hose reels, and sprinkler layouts. Develop fire extinguisher layouts for compliance and operational efficiency. Create cause-and-effect diagrams for fire services. Prepare schematics for fire detection and alarm systems. Ensure seamless integration of fire safety systems with other building services. Technical Support & Collaboration Liaise with project managers, designers, and contractors to meet fire safety requirements. Provide technical advice during design reviews and construction phases. Support performance-based design solutions where prescriptive compliance is not feasible. Qualifications & Experience Essential Bachelor's degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline. Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC, and fire safety regulations. Experience in fire protection system design and hydraulic calculations. Proficiency in fire modelling tools and CAD software. Desirable Postgraduate qualification in Fire Safety Engineering. Membership with Engineers Australia or Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE). Familiarity with bushfire risk assessment and dangerous goods compliance.
