About the Branch/Business Unit The Stormwater Management Authority (SMA) is a statutory Authority established under Schedule 1A of the Local Government Act 1999 and has responsibility for driving stormwater management planning and the implementation of associated infrastructure by the local government sector. It also has a key role in ensuring a strategic and aligned approach to stormwater management across State and local government with the provision of funding in support of its strategic objectives. About the Role: The Principal Technical Advisor/Senior Technical Advisor, Stormwater Management Authority (SMA) is responsible for providing professional engineering expertise and leadership on complex stormwater management works and projects subsidised or led by the SMA. The incumbent will apply significant professional judgement and expertise when engaging with local Government to ensure the technical veracity and robustness of hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, plans and engineering and policy documentation. The Senior Technical Advisor/Technical Advisor will provide high quality written advice to the SMA Board, Executives and the Minister and represent the interests of the SMA on committees and working groups for programs of significant importance. A key component of the role is the ability to successfully develop genuine strong networks and relationships and lead collaboration with partners to deliver successful projects in a timely manner. About You: To be successful in the role, you will have a deep demonstrated knowledge of contemporary flood modelling/hydraulic design methods and tools, demonstrated knowledge of contemporary water sensitive urban design practices and significant experience in successfully managing complex projects involving local government and community stakeholders. Candidates must indicate the specific classification level they wish to be considered for in their application. Essential Qualifications: Degree level qualification in Engineering is essential. Post graduate qualifications related to stormwater, flood management or water sensitive urban design are desirable. Special Conditions: May be required to participate in fire management and associated duties. Current class “C” driver's licence and willingness to drive is essential. Out of hours work may be required. Interstate and intrastate travel requiring overnight absences may be required.
