Procurement Manager Location: Canberra Classification: EL1 Level Our client is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Manager to lead the development and delivery of our procurement framework. This pivotal role will ensure procurement activities align with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, deliver value for money, and support the agency's broader strategic objectives. As a key member of a small, dynamic team, you will take a hands-on approach to shaping procurement practices, fostering strong internal relationships, and driving efficiency and innovation across our operations. You will also contribute to the agency's broader finance service delivery as required. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with our client's direction. Lead and manage end-to-end procurement processes, including planning, tendering, evaluation, contract negotiation, and ongoing management. Ensure compliance with government procurement frameworks, policies, and legislation. Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvement, and the adoption of best practices. Manage relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to optimise performance and value. Conduct and support procurement risk assessments, implementing effective mitigation strategies. Provide expert advice and guidance on procurement matters, including training and capability building. Prepare comprehensive reports, analysis, and performance metrics to support informed decision-making. Key Capabilities and Competencies Demonstrated experience leading and managing procurement functions in the public sector. Strong understanding of Commonwealth procurement policies, procedures, and legislative frameworks. Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Proven ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to complex procurement challenges. Analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, with a focus on achieving outcomes. Commitment to ethical procurement practices, transparency, and sustainability. Qualifications and Experience Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, procurement, business administration, or a related discipline (highly desirable). Professional certification in procurement (e.g., MCIPS or equivalent) will be an advantage. Why take this opportunity?
