We are looking for a Mining & Property Underwriter based in Sydney – Australia . Job Summary Key role is to maintain and develop a profitable portfolio of Australian and New-Zealand Mining & Property accounts through his/her relationships with brokers and through new sources, within the guidelines specified at group level that will contribute to the achievement of the underwriting plan Contribute to the overall results of the Group by sound technical and profitable underwriting Develop SCOR’s market share and leadership position in Mining & Property segment Participate to marketing activities in Australia and New-Zealand, representing SBS’s interest in the market Enhance Group image in the market by efficient and innovative support of client needs Actively review new submissions and determine risk quality and pricing terms in line with underwriting guidelines, pricing tools and market conditions Responsibilities Key duties and responsibilities Generate new offers and promote the Group by pro-active marketing in accordance with the defined strategy and risk appetite. Receive, select and evaluate offers of Mining & Property business from various sources by independently analysing all information including risk engineering reports, calculate ratings, negotiate conditions of the contracts. Respond to all offers in a timely manner. Contribute and share technical knowledge in which the jobholder is working, particularly on Mining Sector including updates on technology and trends. Maintain strong relationships with clients, cedents and brokers. Establish market network in Australia and New-Zealand to enhance our local franchise. Execute growth strategies including Key account management, and Cross Sell Initiatives. Support other SCOR lines by cross selling (Casualty, Alternative Solutions, Construction…). Maintain an accurate database of risks accepted in various IT systems used by SBS, e.g. UP, Forewriter, Omega II, SalesForce. Produce reports of various formats for reporting purposes as required. Contribute to the claims settlement in conjunction with the claims department. Collaborate positively with other departments and colleagues within SBS and elsewhere throughout all Underwriting Centres (Singapore, London, Paris,) Special Projects: Engage in global underwriting projects and/or transversal initiatives, e.g. new energy initiative. Qualifications Experience: 5 years underwriting experience in insurance/reinsurance market in Australia in Mining and General property Working experience in international/multinational insurer/reinsurer, broker Proven underwriting skills for complex property program of large corporates (wordings, quotations) Industrial working experience and/or technical knowledge in mining or industrial risks Risk management knowledge Reinsurance and insurance knowledge Knowledge of competitors, cedents and brokers within Australia Education: Tertiary, preferably from engineering discipline.
