Job Summary The Surety team provides surety bonds predominantly for mid-market and large public and privately-owned companies, offering an alternative to bank guarantees. Surety bonds are in all material respects equivalent to bank guarantees, being underwritten with a primary focus on credit risk, but are issued by insurers. Under moderate supervision, the Credit Risk Analyst provides technical and analytical support to a team of underwriters across Asia-Pacific by providing them with information to help underwriting decision making. It involves financial modelling and a high level of numerical and financial analysis. This role also performs general analysis to keep the team up to date with market and industry risk news by liaising with external data and information providers. Job Duties Work collaboratively with the Asia-Pacific Surety team by monitoring and analysing the credit risks of the current portfolio, and new business opportunities, with particular focus on Asian risks. Risk assessment including ability to interpret financial statements and identify key risks/drivers of companies & industries. Ability to think beyond the ratios and apply knowledge for financial statement and credit analysis – both quantitative and qualitative. Preparing credit and meeting reports with underwriting recommendations for review by Senior Underwriter, Surety and Head of Surety– Asia Pacific. Preparing Surety line of credit documentation inclusive of limit and rating recommendations. Assisting in the review and negotiation of indemnity documentation and bond wordings. Executing bonds in Australia and arranging for issuance of bonds in other territories as required through affiliates and fronting partners (including banks) on a timely basis. Providing underwriting support by ensuring processing documentation and files within the current portfolio are accurately maintained in a timely manner in line within underwriting guidelines. Communicating and working with other product line underwriters in order to leverage cross-selling opportunities and deliver a complete service to the broker and/or client. Experience & Qualifications 7 years business experience, within the banking / financial / insurance / credit industry is preferred. Degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline (Business, Commerce, Finance) is essential. Professional qualification such as CPA, CFA or CA will be highly regarded.
