In this role you will be accountable for: Supporting implementation of the H&S management strategy, mine safety management system framework and H&S risk reduction programs, ensuring priority remains on critical risk management. Conducting trend analysis and interrogating governance systems, to identify continuous improvement focus areas, and value add by initiating and participating in special projects. Supporting the H&S Manager as required, including tracking and facilitation of Statutory Reporting, liaising with Corporate and Regulatory officials. Demonstrating due diligence to achieve and maintain operational awareness with a disciplined approach to legal compliance and proactive risk management. Providing strategic and operational advice to the H&S Manager to ensure that training and development is suitable for the operation and associated risks. Actively coordinating and supporting a team of safety professionals through mentoring, coaching, training facilitation, career development and succession planning activities. Identifying and initiating localised Fatal and Serious Injury Prevention initiatives and influence leaders to reduce risk and share best practice. Acting in the role of location H&S Manager as required, including provision of leave coverage. What you can bring to the role: To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with: Tertiary qualifications in H&S related fields. Strong Health & Safety related experience, ideally in a heavy industry or industrial environment. Knowledge and application of legislative standards to ensure Alcoa’s compliance to WHS requirements. Risk Based H&S Management Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to lead people in the continuous improvement of health and safety systems, and performance.
