About us Join Iluka's new Balranald Operation that deploys a novel, remotely operated, underground mining technology based on Horizontal Direction Drilling platforms to extract ore. Balranald deposit is one of the highest-grade mineral sands deposits in the world, containing significant quantities of titanium minerals rutile and zircon, as well as smaller but material quantities of rare earths. Using remotely operated, novel underground mining (UGM) technology to extract key critical minerals. The technology we have developed enables access to ore bodies previously thought to be uneconomic - in future, we hope it brings potential to unlock other deep deposits of critical minerals, including those nearby to the Balranald project. About the location Iluka’s Balranald operation is located just outside of Balranald township in regional south-western NSW. You can choose to reside locally, drive-in drive-out from towns within the regional area, or fly-in fly-out from Melbourne. We currently travel during rostered work time which reduces the impact on your rostered days off. For South Australian residents we will mobilise you via road transport from our Iluka office in Adelaide. About the role Reporting to the Technical Services Manager the Surveyor is responsible for providing surveying control to assist in the optimum mining of the ore body and to ensure stockpiles are monitored effectively to provide quantities to processing, extraction and management The Mine surveyor is also responsible for the operation of the sites UAV and topographical and subsidence monitoring programs Your accountabilities will include: Maximise effective vehicle and product movements by undertaking routine surveys to measure movements to and from the mining pit and product stockpiles Monitor subsidence areas remotely and perform detailed topographical and spatial designs of these areas Deliver survey volumes to management by providing timely and accurate reports to enable effective decision making Provide detailed topographical and spatial designs to assist in predicting earthwork movements and associated costs Ensure mining optimises the ore body such that dilution or contamination of materials does not occur by providing timely controls About you NSW Mine Surveyor certificate of competency or equivalent Prior mining experience particularly in mineral sands will be highly desirable Experience in mining software such as Deswik, Surpac or Datamine and PIX4D UAV(RPA)/RePL experience Our offer to you Family friendly 8:6 roster with travel during rostered work time New camp facilities, including gym and a swimming pool Be supported through an inclusive and collaborative culture Opportunities for training and professional development Up to 18 weeks paid parental leave Competitive remuneration package including allowances and bonus structure Company share matching scheme Attractive relocation assistance packages for those interested We are committed to upholding our Business Values, supporting equal opportunities, gender equality and cultural diversity.
