Description We are currently recruiting a permanent Senior Engineering Officer – Network Planning. This role can be based anywhere within our operational footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment. About the role As the Senior Engineering Officer – Network Planning , you will play a key leadership role in providing technical advice, network analysis, and strategic planning across Essential Energy’s Asset Management and Engineering division. You’ll be responsible for identifying and evaluating network constraints, developing investment options, and optimising the performance of our energy network assets. This role is critical to ensuring our network remains reliable, efficient, and future-ready. You’ll contribute to the development and implementation of asset management plans, support process improvements, and provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Lead technical evaluations and planning services to support network and business unit improvements. Prepare and approve network investment plans aligned with asset management strategies. Analyse complex network constraints and develop network and non-network investment options. Collate and interpret network data to support strategic planning and reporting. Provide high-quality technical advice to stakeholders and contribute to solving network challenges. Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to policy and procedure development. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and safety rules. Take an active leadership role in coaching and supporting team members. About You You are a technically skilled and solutions-focused professional with extensive experience in the energy or utilities sector. You bring a strong understanding of electricity distribution systems, sound engineering judgment, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Your ability to manage complex technical issues and contribute to strategic planning makes you a valuable asset to the team. Required Qualifications Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering or demonstrated capability through relevant experience. Current Driver’s Licence. Experience and Skills Extensive experience in a similar engineering/technical role in the energy/electrical or utilities industry. Strong knowledge of network design philosophies and statutory requirements. Proven ability to analyse and solve complex technical issues. Excellent planning, time management, and organisational skills. Proficiency in relevant business systems and ability to support peers. Strong cognitive and analytical skills.
