Description About the job: As a Duty Manager, you will primarily be responsible on a shift basis, for the day-to- day oversight and management of Star Aviation’s airport operations, encompassing both above and below-wing servicing requirements. This role has a strong focus on people development and performance management, developing a strong culture of high performing teams. In addition, the role demands a strong focus delivering an extremely high standard of service, while meeting operational service level agreement targets in a fast-paced environment. Your work will include: Service Delivery and Shift Management Continuously developing and the ongoing performance management of all relevant team members Demonstrate success as a leader, this includes effective management of the team performance and absenteeism Fostering an enhanced awareness with all team members for WH&S, aviation safety and security policies Management of operational performance Consistency in achieving KPI's relating to safety, on-time performance, customer satisfaction and financial deliverables Management of the airport's customer service delivery to ensure alignment with Star’s brand values, in addition to acting as a secondary escalation point where required for problem resolution and disrupt management Provision of relief duties when required to support staff and operations, inclusive of all services provided by Star Aviation at the relevant port Building strong, professional relationships with our Leaders, ensuring day to day service delivery is successful Ensure team member training is compliant and knowledge is retained Working with the workforce planning and People & Culture teams to ensure a high standard of recruitment is actioned, and all team members are effectively managed through regular mentoring, conversations, and performance reviews Overseeing data reporting used by Star Aviation within its Airport Operations business to ensure compliance as well as follow up on any non-compliance Escalation support point where required for problem resolution and disrupt management, from either the client or staff Attend and represent Star at airline meetings associated with day of operations or other requirements Working with airlines on day of operations and reporting and responding to information associated with the services we provide Reporting matters of significance in a timely manner to relevant stakeholders Where required, management and responsibility for the rosters being developed for the respective Port Coach and develop Team Leaders as necessary to ensure that the team functions effectively Where required, liaise with Operations Manager and/or Airport Manager to ensure published rosters are meeting the levels of operational robustness and maintain support training recovery planning stages Provide input into the pairing construction to ensure that duties comply with regulations and agreements and that associated training qualification of staff are complaint Continuously develop the performance of team members and team leaders Foster a harmonious team environment with the ability to resolve conflict as it arises Complete all relevant shift reports required of this position prior to end of shift Identify new service opportunities with prospective customers Workforce Planning and People Management Where required, resource management related to Day of Operations as well as arranging replacement staff due to unplanned leave or surge requirements Where required, conduct pre planning of flying activity in advance, commonly known as “minus plans” Always lead by example, ensuring yourself and your team act in accordance with Star Aviation guidelines and appropriate professional standards Provide coaching and mentoring to all staff to improve skillset and ensure a high level of service delivery Where required, oversee the rostering to ensure optimal operational efficiency through effective planning and management of resources Where competent and approved, deliver Airline training to staff as well as review training including On the Job Training Drive a safety culture through your team, ensuring compliance with both the Airline, Airport and Star Aviation requirements Identify and resolve problems/conflict at ground level Uses approved forms to record relevant incidents. Submits records to HR/Safety and applicable departments in a timely manner Skills And Experiences We’re looking for someone who can lead with confidence, professionalism, yet remains calm under pressure. You’ll need excellent time management, strong communication skills, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while supporting your team to deliver consistently high standards. Mandatory requirement The role requires the ability to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC). To be eligible, you must hold valid photo identification and successfully meet all background and security clearance requirements.
