About the Role The Assistant Accountant will play a key role in supporting the Finance Manager and wider finance team in the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the business. Key Responsibilities Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance Support the month-end and year-end close processes Process accounts payable and receivable transactions as required Assist with BAS, PAYG, and other statutory reporting obligations Prepare and post journals, accruals, and prepayments Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and service providers Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance function Provide general support to the Finance Manager and senior accountants as needed Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance support role (preferably within financial services or professional services) Strong understanding of accounting principles and reporting standards Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or similar) Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Working towards or interested in commencing CPA/CA qualification (highly regarded) Culture and Benefits Supportive and professional team environment Career growth and development opportunities, including CPA/CA study support Modern offices located on St Kilda Road with public transport access Flexible working arrangements and a healthy work-life balance Opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of accounting functions
