About the role This newly created Paralegal role supports the General Counsel and legal team in ensuring DroneShield’s legal and compliance frameworks keep pace with its rapid expansion. You will contribute to safeguarding the company’s interests, supporting strategic initiatives, and ensuring compliance across a complex, global operating environment. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Assist in the drafting, review, and management of legal documents including NDAs, commercial contracts, manufacturing/services agreements, and employment agreements. Support legal matters related to intellectual property, export controls, and employment law. Vet third parties interacting with DroneShield, whether they be end-users, resellers, partners, suppliers or contractors and assisting in onboarding these parties. Assist in liaising with Australian and international regulators in relation to radiocommunication, corporate compliance and export controls. Draft loan agreements, as well as assisting sales directors or project managers with coordinating loans and requirements for DroneShield-operated or affiliated events. Help develop and maintain corporate policies and compliance frameworks. Conduct legal research and prepare summaries on regulatory developments affecting the defense and technology sectors. Conduct legal research and due diligence on a range of corporate, commercial, employment, export control, trade and radiocommunications laws both domestically and internationally. Maintain legal files, document management systems, and contract databases. Support internal audits, risk assessments, and legal input into tender responses and procurement processes. Qualifications, Experience and Skills Completed at least 2 years' study for (or has already obtained) a bachelor’s degree in Law, Legal Studies, or a related field. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a paralegal or legal support role, ideally within an in-house environment or that otherwise has a focus on defense or technology. Strong understanding of Australian corporate and employment law; familiarity with export controls and ASX compliance is a plus. Interest in intellectual property, global regulatory frameworks, and emerging technologies. Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
