About UsWith branches in Townsville, Cairns and Cloncurry the region extends from the tip of Australia (including islands), west to Camooweal (Northern Territory border) and as far south as Home Hill.The Transport and Main Roads Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) North Queensland Region (NQ Region) managed 1,756kms of National Highways, 6,335km State controlled rods and 35,486km of local government roads. This role will contribute to the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP). The NQ Region covers an area of about 589,240km2, approximately 38.2% of Queensland. The region incorporates some work-famous tourism destinations to name a few: Daintree, Cassowary Coast of Mission Beach, Atherton Tablelands, Kuranda, Magnetic Island, historic Charters Towers and of course the Great Barrier Reef. The region has an estimated residential population of 546,000 people. About the roleSome of your responsibilities will include: Lead the strategic planning and delivery of regional infrastructure programs, identifying improvement initiatives and mobilising people to deliver transport for prosperity. Be the principal source of advice to the Director-General, Deputy Director-General, General Manager (Program Delivery and Operations) and senior executives within Transport and Main Roads and other government agencies on all regional issues relating to departmental business. Represent the Minister, Director-General, Deputy Director-General, General Manager (Program Delivery and Operations) on departmental business as required, and Provide state-wide leadership and be a contributing member of the Program Delivery and Operations Leadership Team. Skills and experience Takes personal responsibility for serving the government of the day and meeting the needs of the people and communities of Queensland. Embraces new ideas/innovation and leads change in complex environments by making considered, ethical and courageous decisions, based on insight into the broader context of program. Develops and sustains relationships to a high standard, enabling the collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes for the program. Possess extensive experience across the public, private and/or not for profit sector and you will have a strong background in strategy and policy implementation, service delivery, and client service. Act as an agent of change in challenging environments and in fostering a confident and capable workforce. * Displays outstanding judgement, high-level integrity, and strong agility to adapt to a constantly changing environment, a strong achievement orientation, and excellent communication and negotiation skills.
