About Us: The Cape York Aboriginal Australian Academy (CYAAA) is an identified school participating in the Department of Education (DoE) Partnership Initiative (PI). Schools in communities that have a high degree of complexity and vulnerability receive prioritised support and resourcing and act as champions for the communities they serve as part of PI. Under the current Partnership Initiative (PI) Principal special purpose uplift, this substantive School Leader (SL) position is temporarily remunerated at SL. This arrangement is intended to retain and attract school leaders who can drive improvements in learning and life outcomes through a system-wide approach within Partnership Initiative schools and their communities. Leave entitlements during the period of the special purpose classification uplift will be paid at the higher classification rate, in accordance with Directive 16/24 - Higher Duties. The Cape York Aboriginal Australian Academy (CYAAA) is a partnership between the DoE and Good to Great Schools Australia (GGSA), showcasing their comprehensive 5C education reform model. CYAAA operates two campuses in Coen and Hope Vale. Hope Vale is an Indigenous community situated approximately 370 km north of Cairns (4.5 hours), 50 km (40 minutes) north of Cooktown and 10 km off the Battlecamp Road that leads to Lakefield National Park and Laura. Hope Vale campus is a primary school encompassing Prep to Year 6 with approximately 100 students. Students often travel south to attend boarding school or attend the secondary school in Cooktown.Coen is situated on the northern end of the Great Dividing Range and is surrounded by mountains. The township is 240 km (3 hours) from Laura and approximately 580 km (7 hours) north west of Cairns. About the Role: Responsibilities include, but not limited to; Lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on- providing quality learning outcomes for all students.- Uphold the principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.- Set high standards for student and staff performance. Under the current Partnership Initiative (PI) Principal special purpose uplift, this substantive School Leader (SL)4 position is temporarily remunerated at SL6.This arrangement is intended to retain and attract school leaders who can drive improvements in learning and life outcomes through a system-wide approach within Partnership Initiative schools and their communities.Leave entitlements during the period of the special purpose classification uplift will be paid at the higher classification rate, in accordance with Directive 16/24 - Higher Duties.
