About the Role As a Science Technician, you will support the science department by preparing equipment, materials, and chemical solutions for practical lessons. You will ensure laboratories are safe, clean, and well-organised, while providing technical and administration support to staff. Your contribution will help create an engaging and effective learning environment.Step Into Your Next Chapter: Liaising with teachers on their practical work needs, to provide class sets of equipment and materials to the various locations in the school as well as support for incursions and excursions Assisting staff, including demonstrating to students the safe use and care of equipment and laboratory techniques Preparing chemical solutions (eg acids, stains) of known concentrations from bulk supplies Maintaining teaching resources and the safety, cleanliness and good order of all equipment, laboratories, storage and preparation rooms Assisting with the preparation of Curriculum Activity Risk Assessment documents, risk assessments and adherence to Work Health and Safety compliance requirements, especially in relation to chemicals Attending and assisting with events (eg Science Week, subject displays) Communicating effectively and positively in both written and verbal forms to ensure productive interchange and professional conversations with students and staff Work independently in a science laboratory, recognising, anticipating and safely managing chemical hazards.
