About the Role As the Attendance Officer, you will monitor student attendance, generate absence reports for senior leaders, and liaise with parents/carers to verify student absences. You will also provide high-level administrative support to the Principal and Business Manager, contributing to the effective and efficient operations of the school. Your Responsibilities As the Attendance Officer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Generate and distribute daily attendance and absenteeism reports, and follow up with teachers, parents and carers as required. Maintain accurate attendance data in OneSchool and related systems, ensuring updates are communicated to relevant staff. Monitor and document reasons for chronic absenteeism, liaising with Student Support Officers, Heads of Special Education, and Guidance Officers to support student engagement. Maintain records of students with specific care arrangements, legal orders, or other factors affecting attendance. Support early identification and intervention for students experiencing attendance issues, and assist teachers in managing non-attendance concerns. Build strong connections with families to encourage regular attendance and contribute to strategies that address barriers to engagement. Provide general administrative and student support, including assisting at the student counter, managing timetable variations, coordinating off-campus activities, and delivering basic first aid when required. Desired Experience and Skills While highly desirable, these qualities are not mandatory: Experience in school administration or student services, with the ability to manage competing priorities efficiently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in engaging professionally with students, staff, parents, and carers in person, by phone, and in writing. Sound computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with OneSchool and ID Attend systems (preferred but not essential). A professional and courteous telephone manner, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service and maintaining composure in busy or unpredictable situations. The ability to work independently and collaboratively, showing initiative, adaptability, and a willingness to respond to the changing needs of the school. Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, Department of Education processes, protocols, and confidentiality requirements. Awareness of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) obligations and a commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment. A proactive attitude, commitment to continuous learning, and dedication to providing exemplary service to our students, staff, and broader school community. A current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain) is desirable.
