Where you'll be working Royal North Shore Hospital Community Aged Care Service What You'll Be Doing The Welfare Officer is responsible for the provision of a high standard service to assist clients and their families/carers facilitate moving into an Residential Aged Care facility for either respite or permanent care. The primary function of this position is to assist patients and families with the residential placement process from the hospital through to the community setting and any other patient/family support. The Welfare Officer will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; be able to clearly identify problems and concerns; have a wide knowledge of aged care residential processes; and advocate and negotiate with all stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for patients and families. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply. Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria Experience in a field deemed relevant by the employer eg community welfare; or relevant tertiary qualifications of less than recognised university degree standard.Demonstrated skills and knowledge in psychosocial assessments, aged care, guardianship, the management of bereavement and loss, advocacy and group work.Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels with internal and external stakeholders Need more information?
