Location - Canberra, ACT Security Clearance - Australian Citizens with NV1 Clearance Length of Contract - 2 months Closing Date - 29th October 2025 Requirements of the role: Perform critical and complex engineering activities, liaise with Defence stakeholders and manage below the line contractors to gain engineering advice and/or provide advice on engineering issues whilst under broad direction of the Engineering Manager. Accountable for exercising assigned engineering authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations. Apply engineering knowledge and experience to identify issues and uncertainties and take these into account in planning, decision making and priority setting. Demonstrate electronics-electrical engineering knowledge and provide advice and recommendations on the development of advancements to established engineering principles, techniques, methods and regulations. Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, actively participate in teamwork and motivate and mentor developing engineers. Tailor communication style and language to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Assess technical and design packages including scoping, planning, reviewing, provide recommendations and contribute to the implementation of actions. Evaluate that the delivered materiel meets requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, provide recommendations and contribute to the implementation of actions. Monitor and ensure safety aspects of Defence materiel systems are considered and incorporated into electronics-electrical engineering activities. Manage workflows, resources, prepare work area and team plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes. Mandatory Skills: Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian university or that recognised by the Institute of Engineers Australia. Qualifications to be in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics, Military Systems, Computer Systems or ICT engineering. Previous Defence experience. Experience with Tactical Data Links, or secure communications systems in a military environment. Desirable: Full Member of Engineers Australia. Chartered Professional Engineer or experience sufficient to gain a Chartered Professional Engineer. (CPEng) by Engineers Australia or equivalent from a recognised international body affiliated with Engineers Australia. Cisco Certification (CCNA / CCNP). Experience in providing Engineering Support of medium to large size ICT networks including design and network delivery. Experience and/or familiarity with E&IG processes. Experience implementing containerised ICT Systems.
