We are seeking a talented and driven Designer to join our Design and Buying team. Reporting to the Buying Manager, this role is responsible for the sourcing, development, and ranging of both Australian and International Girlswear and Teen ranges. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, the Creative Director, Design & Buying Manager, planners, and internal teams to deliver products that reflect Seed's style, quality, and brand position. Please note: this is a 12-month fixed term contract role THE ROLE: Research trends, key items, colours, and styling to develop seasonal collections Work with internal teams to ensure balanced product mix and quality standards; attend supplier meetings and fit sessions. Support the achievement of sales budgets, gross margin, markdown targets, and closing stock; work with suppliers to negotiate costs and develop ranges within budget. Analyse sales reports to manage bestsellers, sell-through, and problem styles; support weekly stock management including re-prices and markdowns. Coordinate sample preparation for marketing, online content, and seasonal shoots; provide web copy and presentations to internal teams. On-site role 5-days per week, based in our St Kilda Road offices. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: Degree or Diploma in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, or related discipline (preferred) Minimum 6 years' experience in apparel design, product development, or merchandising ideally in fashion apparel Demonstrated experience in sourcing, ranging, and developing collections for local and international markets. Strong understanding of seasonal trend forecasting, colour and fabric selection, and styling. Experience working closely with suppliers, production teams, and planners to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards. Exceptional creativity and trend awareness, with a strong eye for detail. Strong analytical skills and ability to work with sales, margin, and stock data to inform design and ranging decisions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders. Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines. Commercially minded and results-driven, with a strong focus on achieving sales and margin targets.
