Where you'll be working 8D is a 30 bed Surgical Ward catering for the following specialties: Head & Neck/ENT; Gynae Oncology; Endocrine Surgery – adrenalectomies, breast surgery, complicated thyroids; General Surgery – melanoma surgery; Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery; Colorectal surgery; Plastics; Ophthalmology and Dental. The unit boasts a supportive team, educational opportunities to develop an expansive knowledge base, and encouragement to pursue professional development opportunities. What you'll be doing The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) will manage a unit or ward in order to provide a quality standard of care to NSLHD Patients. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply. Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: Registered Nurse-Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and Relevant management tertiary qualification OR equivalent work experience, OR a combination of study and work experience; and demonstrated commitment to professional development. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and support a clinical team. Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in Microsoft Applications, roster management systems and electronic medical records. Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in change management and initiating a new service delivery model within an established service. Evidence of and commitment to patient/customer focused care, clinical governance and quality improvement.
