About the role We're seeking a Maintenance Manager to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of maintenance works across our road network through strong contract management and technical oversight. You'll join an innovative team, who are dedicated to maintaining critical infrastructure to the highest standards while keeping both the public and workers safe. Day-to-day, you will: Oversee and manage the delivery of maintenance works through core and specialist contractors, ensuring compliance with maintenance standards and safety requirements. Lead contractor performance management, including administration of service levels, KPI monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives. Overse e technical assurance by reviewing maintenance practices, documentation, and quality outcomes to ensure alignment with asset management standards. Collaborate with key stakeholders across Operations, Asset Strategy, and Technology teams to manage asset risk and coordinate maintenance activities. Manage HSE leadership and assurance activities to build and sustain a culture of proactive safety and compliance. This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including: Strong contract management and stakeholder relationship skills with the ability to influence outcomes constructively. Solid understanding of HSE management and risk assessment in a contracted maintenance environment. Organised, analytical mindset with experience managing budgets and performance outcomes in a complex operational setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – confident engaging with contractors, internal teams, and executive stakeholders. Engineering knowledge and curiosity for continuous improvement in infrastructure and asset maintenance practices.
