General Manager Box Hill Cemetery Trust - Serving the community since 1873 Box Hill Cemetery has been a place of remembrance and reflection for over 150 years. As a not-for-profit statutory authority, we provide interment and memorialisation services with compassion, professionalism, and respect. The Trust now seeks an exceptional General Manager to lead the organisation through its next phase of innovation and community service. About the Role Reporting directly to the Box Hill Cemetery Trust, the General Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of the organisation - including governance, finance, people, operations, community engagement, and innovation. You will guide a small and dedicated inhouse team, and oversee contractors to ensure operational excellence, financial sustainability, and the respectful care of our heritage grounds. Key Responsibilities Lead strategic planning, governance, and compliance under the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003 Oversee financial performance, budgeting, and reporting to ensure long-term sustainability Lead a compassionate, customer-focused culture, that supports bereaved families and the community Inspire, mentor, and develop staff and contractors, promoting collaboration and accountability Drive innovation in service delivery, digital transformation, and heritage preservation Represent the Trust with integrity to government, community, and sector stakeholders About You You are an inspiring and progressive leader, who balances technical expertise with high emotional intelligence. You bring: Proven senior management experience with financial, HR, and operational accountability Strong governance and compliance capability, ideally in a not-for-profit or statutory environment A track record of driving innovation and business improvement Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills Genuine empathy, compassion, and a deep commitment to community service Tertiary qualifications in business, management, finance, engineering, or a related field are required.
