We are currently seeking an experienced Agricultural Consultant to join our Waterloo team in a full time position. Applicants must have at least 3-5 years of proven work experience in agriculture and hold a Masters degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science or a related field. Candidate will also display: Good communication skills. Strong knowledge of plant genetics, breeding programs, and Integrated Pest Management The ability to work unsupervised A willingness to relocate to Waterloo, WA 6228 Strong problem-solving and analytical skills The ideal candidate should possess a strong work ethic, demonstrating a commitment to hard work and a proactive approach. Attention to detail is crucial, as is the ability to take initiative and go the extra mile when needed. A desirable quality would be a willingness to work outside regular working hours, showcasing dedication and flexibility in meeting the demands of the role. Engaging in outdoor activities, the team consists of six members, although at the beginning the chosen candidate is expected to operate independently for the majority of the time. They will then progress to be in charge of a research assistant to help with the plant breeding. The work atmosphere is positive and collaborative, fostering a supportive environment where team members assist each other as needed. Duties and Responsibilities: Establish and manage a garden and cut-rose breeding program Select strong mother plants to make yearly crossings Select prominent seedlings to be trialled further Accurate record-keeping system of plant crossings and selections Monitoring plant health Implement fertigation and spray program Register Plant Breeder's Rights for selected varieties Implement and manage an Integrated Pest Management system to ensure low pest pressure and reduce plant loss due to pests A salary between $76,515 - $85,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
