Within the context of the responsibilities described above under 'your key responsibilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following: - Demonstrated understanding of clinical microbiology principles, including specimen processing, culture techniques, pathogen identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods.- Ability to follow established laboratory protocols and quality control procedures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and safety in all testing activities, consistent with NATA/RCPA standards.- Knowledge of laboratory information systems, with a commitment to maintaining data integrity and confidentiality. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors in a clinical setting.- The position is currently a shift position requiring the successful applicant to work weekends, public holidays, shift work, and out of hours on call work. In the future the position may change to a continuous shift position requiring the successful applicant to participate in a 24-hour rostering system covering day, evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays. Qualifications, registrations, and other requirements: - The successful applicant must hold at least a relevant tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Medical Laboratory Science.- Experience in Microbiology laboratory is highly desirable.- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification.
