About This Opportunity The University of Queensland is seeking an innovative Chief Information Officer (CIO) to shape the future of Information Technology Services (ITS) across one of Australia’s leading research and teaching institutions. As a senior executive within the Chief Operating Officer portfolio, the CIO will be a strategic force that drives alignment between cutting-edge IT initiatives and UQ’s academic, research, and operational priorities. You’ll collaborate with senior leaders to drive superior service delivery, champion a culture of engagement and excellence, and lead the charge on UQ’s bold transformation agenda. This is a high-impact role overseeing both the strategic evolution and daily operations of ITS. From robust infrastructure and cybersecurity to smart governance and agile application development, you’ll guide a talented team to deliver future-ready solutions. With a sharp eye on emerging risks and global tech trends, you’ll harness innovation to propel UQ’s ambitions forward. This position is based at UQ’s St Lucia campus . About You Our ideal candidate will have a strong track record in defining and delivering strategic initiatives, managing significant budgets, and leading multidisciplinary teams in addition to a background that spans infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and data governance, with a solid understanding of compliance and sector-specific legislation.
