Position overview Permanent, Full-Time opportunity True hybrid working – work from home and our Mitcham office $107,675 - $113,862 per annum plus 12% superannuation The role This is a key role within the finance team, responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of financial information, with a focus on fixed assets and capital projects. This role blends both technical accounting expertise with strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities to deliver high-quality financial reporting, valuable insights, and proactive support to internal stakeholders across the organisation. Acting as a trusted business partner, the position partners closely with project teams and other business units to ensure capital investments are properly accounted for, monitored, and reported. The ability to combine hands-on technical proficiency with practical problem-solving, and clear communication is essential in translating financial data into actionable insights. Your key responsibilities Ensure the accuracy of general ledger and fixed asset register records in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), income tax requirements and internal policies. Assist in the preparation of statutory financial reports and support external audit requirements, including preparation of supporting schedules and timely responses to audit queries. Partner with the business to: deliver on end of month results lead the annual useful life and stocktake process Partner with project managers to provide: financial insights and guidance on CAPEX and OPEX determination monitor and reconcile capital project expenditure to ensure accuracy and compliance with approved budgets. calculate and process accurate, complete, timely and well documented journals for asset additions, disposals, transfers, revaluations and depreciation. Develop and analyse reporting: Analyse trends in capital expenditure, asset utilisation, and depreciation to identify risks and opportunities. Develop reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI to drive efficiency, support decision-making and strategic conversations. Provide insights that inform support decision making, planning, forecasting, and investment decisions. Carry out detailed analysis of our Work in Progress and our Fixed Asset Registers to identify risks and areas of improvement ensuring identified risks are remediated with appropriate actions. What we’re looking for 5 years’ experience in financial accounting & reporting (AASB standards) and asset/capital project accounting. Proficient in data analysis and reporting using Power BI and Excel, with strong analytical skills to derive actionable insights. Excellent business partnering and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, adaptable to change and comfortable managing multiple priorities. CPA or ICAA membership (or studying) and a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Data – Mandatory Self-driven, collaborative, and customer-focused mindset with strong written and verbal communication skills.
