Reference Number: 1071761 About the Role: The Project Manager is responsible for leading the development, coordination, and implementation of projects that have a direct business impact and strict deadlines. This role involves effective project planning and governance throughout the project life cycle. The Project Manager may supervise a team of project staff and is responsible for identifying and managing risks that could affect the project's success. In this position, the Project Manager will lead the WA Cooperative Outreach Project, which aims to explore ways for universities to better collaborate in engaging students and communities. The goal is to increase awareness of and access to higher education, particularly for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds. The Project Manager will work under the supervision of the Trials & Evaluation Program Director and will partner with the Manager of National Student Equity Evaluations. They will collaborate closely with student equity practitioners, as well as staff from schools and government agencies. Your responsibilities will include: Manage all activities related to assigned project/s, from start up, planning, implementation and close-out, using appropriate project management methodology and systems, to achieve the defined project outcomes. Develop relevant business case and project initiation documentation (PID), including work plans, timelines, implementation and evaluation methods, costings and communication strategies. Build relationships with and liaise with relevant partners and stakeholders to identify project deliverables and negotiate clear objectives and appropriate project outcomes. Maintain communication and productive relationships with the project team, project stakeholders and any other relevant contacts, ensuring all parties are kept informed throughout all phases of the project. Identify, source, manage and assign necessary project resources. Identify impacts and risks associated with the project and report on and manage these. Manage internal and external resources associated with the delivery of assigned projects and manage the procurement of any third party services, ensuring relevant practices and processes are adhered to. Where applicable, manage any subordinate staff and contractors. Write and prepare confidential project reports and related documentation Chair and facilitate stakeholder meetings and convene focus groups. Oversee the implementation of the project deliverables. Monitor and evaluate project milestones and undertake post-implementation reviews. Undertake other activities which the incumbent might reasonably be expected to do, and which are consistent with the accountabilities and responsibilities as listed above. Selection Criteria: Demonstrated high level project management skills with the ability to manage and implement project plans to achieve desired outcomes within budget and resourcing constraints. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to consult and liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and with cross cultural sensitivity. Demonstrated high level written communication skills with the ability to construct clear and concise project reports. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks with attention to accuracy and detail within deadlines. Proven ability to work effectively with a cross functional team, including the capacity to supervise and manage other staff. Demonstrated critical analysis skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision making. Demonstrated experience in project evaluation. Demonstrated experience with university school outreach and/or student support activities. Role Requirements: As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role. Postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards) and extensive relevant experience; or extensive relevant project management experience and expertise, or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training.
