The Role This is a unique role blending construction and insurance law within one of Australia’s leading commercial practices. You’ll advise on complex projects, contract risk and major claims - gaining rare dual exposure to front and back-end construction, as well as a broad range of insurance lines. Key responsibilities include: Advising on front-end construction contracts, project delivery risk and policy coverage; Managing a range of back-end construction disputes, including SOPA claims and contract litigation; Acting on insurance matters including contract works, ISR, D&O, property damage, and PI claims; Advising on risk allocation and insurance structures for large-scale developments and infrastructure projects; Collaborating with colleagues nationally and contributing to internal training and knowledge-sharing; and Engaging directly with contractors, engineers, brokers, TPAs, and insurers, including Lloyd’s syndicates. No two days are alike – you’ll be trusted to manage matters end-to-end, supported by strong systems, approachable leadership and a culture of open communication. About You You may be a lawyer working in construction, insurance, or commercial litigation, seeking a role that allows you to broaden your experience and build a dual specialisation. What’s essential is strong fundamentals, curiosity and a willingness to learn across both disciplines. Ideal candidates will have: 1-7 PQE; Experience in construction, commercial disputes, or insurance but the client would welcome interest from a mix of relevant backgrounds; Strong drafting, research and negotiation skills; An interest in both project advisory and complex litigation work; and A collaborative, down-to-earth approach and genuine enthusiasm for team learning.
