Your new role: As a Clinical Nurse Consultant, you will provide advanced clinical expertise and leadership within the IDD Mental Health Team. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes for consumers with intellectual disabilities, autism, and complex neurodevelopmental disorders who present with co-occurring mental health concerns. Key responsibilities include: Providing advanced clinical consultancy and evidence-based care across the continuum of mental health services Supporting the primary treating teams through assessment, clinical advice, and management planning Leading clinical governance, quality improvement, and risk management initiatives within the team Facilitating education, clinical supervision, and mentorship to nursing and multidisciplinary staff Engaging in research, innovation, and service redesign activities to improve clinical outcomes Contributing to workforce development, policy implementation, and strategic service planning Promoting safe, person-centred, and trauma-informed care practices About you: We are seeking a highly skilled nursing leader who demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for improving mental health outcomes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate: Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) Advanced clinical experience in mental health and/or intellectual disability nursing Proven ability to provide expert clinical consultancy and lead complex case discussions Experience driving quality improvement, research, and education initiatives Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills Postgraduate qualification (or working toward) in mental health, intellectual disability, or leadership (highly desirable) Check out our quick tips and application essentials!
