About the role Join a passionate and multidisciplinary team making a real difference in the lives of people recovering from brain injury. As a Social Worker within the Brain Injury Community Rehabilitation Team (BICRT), you’ll play a vital role in helping clients and their families navigate the challenges of injury, illness, and disability. Working closely with our Level 3 Senior Social Worker, you’ll deliver a high-quality, evidence-based clinical service that supports clients’ emotional wellbeing and promotes independence. Your work will include providing counselling to assist with adjustment and coping, as well as undertaking case planning, liaison, advocacy and referral to maximise access to appropriate community services. This is an opportunity to bring empathy, clinical expertise, and a collaborative spirit to a team dedicated to empowering clients to achieve meaningful outcomes in their rehabilitation journey. Key responsibilities include: Liaise with multi-disciplinary team colleagues to optimise client care. To be actively involved in client discharge planning where appropriate. Contribute to the ongoing development of the Social Work service. Comply with Royal Rehab and Social Work (SW) policies and procedures. Undertake other duties as required by BICRT Clinical Operations Manager (COM) or Social Work Professional Leader. About you We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with: Essential Criteria: Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers and commitment to the AASW Code of Ethics. Minimum 12 months post qualifying experience in - assessment, counselling, advocacy, referral to community services and discharge planning in a health/rehabilitation setting. Experience working with adults with a physical or cognitive disability. Demonstrated competence in communication skills – written and verbal, negotiation, conflict resolution. Sound time management skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and complete tasks. Demonstrated commitment to participation in supervision and professional development. Computer skills and demonstrated competency. Current NSW unrestricted Class C Drivers licence. Desirable Criteria: Understanding of quality improvement processes and their implementation. Member of the Australian Association of Social Workers. Experience working in community settings.
