We are seeking a Senior Accountant to take responsibility for the finance function, oversee the company’s day-to-day and strategic accounting requirements, for our client's small to medium sized steel manufacturing supplier business near East Maitland. This position is ideal for a career-experienced accountant who values stability and is looking to settle into a secure, ongoing role where their skills and reliability will be highly valued. As the key finance professional in the business, you will lead a small team and play a vital role in ensuring financial integrity while supporting operational and commercial outcomes. Key Responsibilities Financial management – Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts; ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory obligations including BAS, GST, PAYG, and payroll tax. Business support – Prepare budgets and forecasts, monitor costing and margins; provide insights that help the business remain competitive and efficient. Payroll – Supervise payroll, superannuation, and entitlements. Accounts control – Maintain oversight of accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, supplier payments, and collections. Trusted advisor – Partner with management and operational teams, ensuring financial stability and informed decision-making. Ideal Experience and Qualifications Degree qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or related field ideal. Qualified By Experience with circa 10 years’ experience in financial or management accounting, ideally in manufacturing, steel, or construction Strong technical knowledge across compliance, reporting, and analysis Proficiency with Xero ideal, Microsoft Excel essential.
