Job Title Cylindrical Grinder Operator Salary - $88,920 Super Work Location: Malaga WA 6090 Summary of Position : - Inspect machinery and work pieces to ensure that they remain compliant with the company’s specifications to reduce any malfunctions and associated loss of production Ensure grinding wheels are dressed according to the company’s specifications so that the machines remain at peak working capability Stop any machines upon discovery of a problem and make the required adjustments as quickly as possible to minimize downtime Provide quality control by inspecting work pieces as they come out of the equipment and removing any defective pieces Operate machinery, including polishing and grinding equipment, to grind any metal work pieces to their prescribed specifications to ensure high-quality products Finish products by hand using hand tools to ensure the surfaces are filed or finished accordingly Keep all equipment running by inspecting and performing basic maintenance, including lubrication and cleaning, and scheduling repairs when needed Perform basic repairs, including replacing parts when they are worn down or broken, within the scope of expected knowledge and expertise Safely operates overhead cranes to move components within the workshop and to load these components onto the manual machines for machining operations Undertakes workshop cleaning duties on a scheduled basis Primary Responsibilities : - CYLINDRICAL GRINDER OPERATOR Grind external cylindrical surfaces Remove metal by the application of abrasives, which are bonded to form a rotating wheel Rough and finish flat, cylindrical, and conical surfaces Read and interpret drawings Determine product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground Collect and assemble required products Determine grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used Mount grinding wheel Dress wheel according to specifications Use dressing devices Position work rest to specified height Lift or hoist work pieces Confirm groundwork piece has the correct specifications Change worn grinding wheels Check grinding wheels for cracks Utilize micrometers, calipers, and preset gauges Set up automatic work-feeding device Use proper wheel guards on all grinding machines Grind non-metallic materials Observe machine during operation Works with : - Manager and Workshop Supervisor – undertakes production under direction of this position All of the company’s personnel Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience 2-5 years’ experience as a Cylindrical Grinder Operator Current High Risk Forklift drivers licence (Preferred) Experience within a manufacturing environment (Preferred) Overhead crane operation experience with Dogging, Slinging and Rigging qualifications (Preferred) First aid qualification (Preferred) Experience working with and following Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental systems, policies and procedures Good communication skills (verbal and written) Excellent attention to detail
