Your Opportunity We are excited to be sourcing for a newly shaped Trade Waste Technical Officer for our Trade Partnering team, that forms part of our Customer & Innovation group. The Customer and Innovation group leads and champions the way Urban Utilities connects with its customers. Our approach is focused on remaining contemporary, by understanding the current and future needs of our customers and appropriately shaping our services. The purpose of this role is to play a crucial hand in managing the administrative aspects of trade waste management for businesses and regulatory purposes. This includes trade waste approval processing, record keeping, communication, documentation and reporting and customer support. By doing this, you will direct support the team’s commitment to customer service while maintaining Urban Utilities' obligations with statutory requirements and in accordance with Urban Utilities' trade waste environmental management plan Some of your accountabilities will include: Act as the first point of contact for trade waste-related enquiries, ensuring timely resolution or appropriate referral. Provide clear, technical advice and information on policies and procedures to customers and internal stakeholders, and support the onboarding of new customers by outlining trade waste obligations and processes. Assess and condition trade waste applications in line with the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008 and Urban Utilities’ Trade Waste Environmental Management Plan. Prepare and issue trade waste approvals and maintain accurate records across corporate systems. Maintain and analyse trade waste data, including WasteID compliance information. Prepare detailed reports on permit status, compliance trends, and revenue insights to support operational decision-making. Conduct compliance monitoring activities, including desktop assessments and audits of trade waste infrastructure and practices. Identify non-compliance, provide guidance on regulatory requirements, and escalate issues where necessary. About You: We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experiences: You are a critical thinker who naturally builds strong relationships with stakeholders. You excel at collaboration, aligning objectives, and achieving desired outcomes. You can build strong customer relationships and deliver customer and community focussed solutions. You will bring prior customer service and/or trade waste experience ideally in site-based role. The role requires attendance at Resource Recovery Sites. Immunisation (e.g. Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus) may be required in accordance with Urban Utilities' immunisation policy This role is based at 31 Duncan St and operational sites as required.
