Job Title: Saw Operator Location: Brisbane, QLD Job Type: Full-time / Day Shift About the Role We’re looking for a reliable and safety-focused Saw Operator to join our fabrication/industrial production team. You’ll be responsible for accurately cutting steel materials to specification, operating saws and associated machinery, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met every day. Key Responsibilities: Operate band saws, circular saws, or other industrial saw equipment to cut steel to required dimensions Read and interpret technical drawings, cut lists, and job specifications Set up saw machines, install or change blades, adjust cutting guides and stops Monitor operation of the saws, checking for defects or issues, and maintain cut accuracy Perform routine maintenance: blade sharpening/replacement, cleaning, lubrication of saws Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area; follow safety protocols at all times Collaborate with production team to meet daily output targets and job schedules Complete job sheets, reports or logs related to production and machine performance What We’re Looking For: Previous experience operating saws or working in metal fabrication / steel production (preferred) Ability to read measurements, technical drawings/schematics accurately Good mechanical aptitude - comfortable making adjustments, routine machine maintenance Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work A safety-first mindset; understanding and strict adherence to workplace health & safety requirements Desirable Skills & Certifications (but not essential): Forklift licence Overhead crane operation experience Basic computer skills for logging jobs / reporting What You’ll Get / What We Offer: Competitive pay Full training on saw operation / machinery if needed Supportive working environment with emphasis on safety & quality Opportunities for progression / skill development
