About This Role Provides overall strategic leadership and management of the Contracts and Assurance work portfolio. Lead contracts and assurance activities within the Contracts and Infrastructure Branch. About The Business Unit Contracts and Infrastructure are responsible for contract management, commercial oversight and advisory services, and the effective management and maintenance of Corrections and Justice Services' prison and related infrastructure. Key duties include management and oversight of major contracts (including private prisons), representing the department on infrastructure and construction projects, and developing and implementing systems, processes and policies for the asset portfolio. About The Role The General Manager, Contracts and Assurance (CA) reports to the Director, Contracts and Infrastructure Branch. You will provide strategic leadership of all contract management activities, including procurement, within the portfolio, lead a team of contract management professionals, and establish strategies to manage departmental risks and issues related to contract management and procurement. The role emphasizes innovation and continuous improvement to ensure value for money through best practice contract administration and modern commercial management approaches. You will provide expertise to senior stakeholders on strategic management of commercial contracts and lead high-quality outcomes for major contractual arrangements. You will also support departmental executive functions in a complex environment, exercising sound judgement and effective liaison with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities Establish oversight and assurance processes to ensure contract management compliance and best practice, including a contract assurance framework. Embed fit-for-purpose monitoring and governance across the business unit and provide visibility of performance, priorities, risks and compliance with contract management requirements. Provide strategic leadership and management of the Corrections Contracts and Assurance team. Drive contract initiatives, lead commercial negotiations for service changes, oversee timely procurement activities, and pursue value for money and operational excellence. Ensure functions align with departmental and State Government policies, legislation, and regulations for contract management and procurement. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Experience in environments with robust risk management, assurance and governance practices. Experience in managing complex service contracts and in contemporary contract administration, including producing comprehensive reports with commercial and contractual analysis. Understanding of contract management and procurement best practice, and knowledge of legislative and policy requirements. Extensive experience in contract administration with high-level skills in leading the provision of commercial advice for major contracts and negotiation. Experience developing high-performing teams that achieve outcomes to a high standard.
