Premier’s Department Policy Adviser Sydney NSW Full time Location - Sydney CBD We are looking for a highly motivated person to fill the role of Policy Adviser in the Office of the Hon Jihad Dib MP, Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government, Minister for Emergency Services, Minister for Youth Justice. The successful candidate will require a strong interest, understanding and background in public policy and an in-depth understanding of the NSW political system. This is a full-time ongoing role which is based at 52 Martin Place Sydney. Key capabilities The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience: · Demonstrated experience in providing advice on a range of policy, public administration and/or political matters in government or in a public, non-profit or private sector organisation. · Strong understanding of government and political processes, including translating policy into practice. · Demonstrated capacity for applying analytical and problem-solving skills in developing solutions for complex issues. · Demonstrated ability to think and work strategically as a part of a small team and deliver quality work to deadlines in a high-pressure environment. · Excellent relationship management skills and proven ability to collaborate and work across a diverse range of stakeholders and portfolios to achieve outcomes. · Ability to rapidly acquire a sound knowledge of the structure and functions of the portfolio. · Ability to communicate effectively and liaise with other Ministerial Offices, government agencies, stakeholders and the community. The key duties of the position include: · Providing considered, strategic and timely advice on and supporting delivery and management of priority, complex and sensitive policy, public administration and political issues. · Assist in developing policy initiatives and responses, including through analysing and/or preparing reports, papers, policy statements, briefing notes and statistical information on policy and related matters and significant portfolio initiatives. · Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, liaising closely with stakeholders to identify key issues in relation to policy requirements, provide advice and advance the Government’s priorities. · Providing advice and support on parliamentary matters and legislative processes. · Providing input into communications and assisting in the preparation of speeches. · Building and maintaining effective relationships with other ministerial offices and government agencies on complex and sensitive policy priorities. · Performing other duties as required by the Minister.
