Due to continued growth, we are seeking another person to join the team and expand APC’s R&D capabilities. The Position This is your opportunity to join an established and expanding national team where you can continue to grow your experience. Reporting to the Technical Manager (Senior Chemist with over 30 years industry experience), you will work as part of a small team contributing to new product launches that impact the industrial and commercial flooring markets. Formulating innovatively reliable and consistent products, improving existing technologies, testing and providing technical expertise that meet market and regulatory requirements is the mandate of the team. You will work closely with the Technical Manager and production teams to align R&D with company goals ensuring the creation of products that meet the highest performance standards for durability, UV stability, curing speed, and safety. Key responsibilities include; Conduct routine and advanced analytical laboratory testing on epoxy and urethane systems used in coatings, adhesives, flooring and industrial applications (adhesion, abrasion, chemical resistance, UV/weathering, water spotting, and curing profiles). Confer with internal and external stakeholders to analyse, interpret and develop tests. Troubleshoot and resolve formulation across epoxy and urethane systems. Support quality control and QC/QA programs, ensuring compliance with internal standards and relevant industry standards. Laboratory safety, data integrity, and meticulous documentation (SOP adherence). Maintain product standards and specifications. Ensure scale-up from lab to production is smooth and consistent. Provide technical guidance to production, sales and customers: solving performance issues, interpreting test data, and delivering practical recommendations. Keeping abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and sustainability initiatives affecting materials. Your Background If you are an experienced Bench Chemist seeking to continue your professional development and work in a high growth industry, then this is the position for you! Working with a highly experienced Technical Manager, you will be able to extend your skills beyond testing and develop further into writing formulas and become an expert in the field. We are ideally seeking a person with the following skills and experience; Minimum of a Bachelor Science in chemistry or related field Prior practical laboratory experience ideally in adhesives, coatings, polymer-based materials i.e. resin, paint etc. Strong understanding of epoxy, polyaspartic, polyurethane or similar chemistries highly regarded Ability to think laterally and solve problems Excellent communication skills Strong documentation and writing skills Able to work independently on the testing of new and improved products through to production Why you will like Working with Here You will thrive in the genuinely collaborative culture where everyone pitches in to support each other.
